Course Overview
DELE and SIELE are both official Spanish examinations certifying proficiency in Spanish as a foreign language. Each is internationally recognised and each follows the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). DELE stands for Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera (Diploma in Spanish as a Foreign Language), a traditional examination held on set dates during the year; SIELE stands for Servicio Internacional de Evaluación de la Lengua Española (International Spanish Language Evaluation Service) and is taken on a computer.
Course Content
An intensive exam preparation course through which you become familiar with exam technique; a series of mock examinations develops the skills and strategies needed to manage your time and handle the exam format; and targeted work on grammar, vocabulary and written expression helps you achieve the highest possible mark in every paper.
DELE Levels
DELE has six levels: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2. A1 is entry level. Holders of an A1 diploma can cope with simple exchanges and talk about very everyday topics. A2 is elementary level. Holders of an A2 diploma can understand and use frequently occurring expressions from daily life, introduce basic information about themselves, and ask about and discuss such information with others — family, friends, hobbies, shopping and travel, for example. B1 is intermediate level. Holders of a B1 diploma have enough language to understand and take part in the basic situations of everyday life, and can manage comfortably when travelling abroad. B2 is upper intermediate level. Holders of a B2 diploma can understand fairly complex written language, take an active part in academic discussion and write within their own field, express their views and opinions fluently, and converse with native Spanish speakers on general social topics without difficulty. C1 is the level of fluency. Holders of a C1 diploma can express their thoughts without hindrance, command a broad vocabulary including literary and colloquial terms, carry out independent academic research, and write and even publish specialist papers. C2 is the level of mastery. Holders of a C2 diploma have Spanish approaching that of a native speaker: besides using the language with complete assurance, they are well versed in the culture and customs that lie behind it.
SIELE Levels
SIELE has five levels: A1, A2, B1, B2 and C1.
